It’s always interesting to look back on your likes, dislikes, and how they might change over time. I’ve moved into enjoying the more classic cocktails lately. Since every recipe on my blog seems to have bourbon in it (not sorry), I decided to make a summer version of this cocktail with a favorite Kentucky bourbon and a splash of cherry juice. Don’t tell Jerry, but it turns out I may actually enjoy this version better than the original.
Cherry Whiskey Sour
Iconic whiskey sour cocktail recipe with a summer cherry kick. Complete with Kentucky bourbon, fresh lemon juice, and a smooth egg white foam finish.
Ingredients
- 2 1/4 ounces whiskey or bourbon
- 3/4 ounce lemon juice, fresh
- 1/2 ounce simple syrup (1:1 sugar to water)
- 1 teaspoon cherry juice or jam
- 1 egg white
Instructions
- Combine bourbon, lemon juice, simple syrup, cherry juice in a cocktail shaker with 5-6 cubes of ice.
- Shake well for 30 seconds.
- Strain out the ice and return cocktail to cocktail shaker without ice.
- Add egg white and shake as vigorously as possible for an entire minute to buiild foam.
- Pour to coupe glass and enjoy.
